Apollo 16
This cuff checklist was worn by John Young on his Apollo 16 moonwalk. The pages shown describe how to collect rock samples. The rocks returned by Apollo 16 included a 25-pound (11 kg) sample that was the largest single rock returned by the Apollo astronauts. The astronauts of Aprollo 16 spent over 20 hours exploring the lunar surface.
Shortly before this photograph was taken, the astronauts were informed that Congress had approved funding for what would become the Space Shuttle Program.
John Young went on to become the Commander of STS-1, the first Space Shuttle mission.
